I have been writing about various opportunities available on the Internet for entrepreneurs looking for home based self employment projects. As the opportunities available are too many, some readers may find it difficult to make a choice. To help them, I have prepared a list of ten projects that most people can take up and written briefly about them. For detailed information, please refer to my earlier articles.
Knowledge of the existence of opportunities will not automatically bring clients to our door steps. We have to work hard to market ourselves and bag orders. Most of us have friends and relatives, either close or distant, living in developed countries. The easiest way to secure clients is to approach these friends and relatives.
The following projects do not require investment except a computer and the Internet connection. They do not require sophisticated technical knowledge. They have the potential to generate ongoing monthly revenue.
(1) Content Creation: All websites need original high quality content. If you are an expert in a subject and good at creating content, you can work as a content creator and make money. Content does not mean just words. It can be a piece of music, photograph, art, video or anything that can attract visitors and keep them engaged. Pay rate ranges from $25 to $50 per article.
(2) Content Editing: Poorly formatted content with spelling mistakes creates a poor impression in the mind of any visitor. So, every webmaster wants to make sure that his website has professionally edited content. If you have good language skills, interest in proof reading and an eye for formatting, you can work as an online content editor and make money. Pay rate ranges from $5 to $9 per hour.
(3) Customer Support: There are tens of thousands online sellers that have automated their sales process. However, it is difficult to automate all aspects of customer support service. This service is mostly provided by email. When a customer requests support, his email will be sent to you and you will have to respond to him using prewritten stock replies. Pay rate ranges from $4 to $8 per hour.
(4) Quotation Preparation: Insurance for health is a legal requirement in many developed countries. When prospects approach an insurance agent, he has to present several quotations so that the prospects can take informed decisions. As this work is time consuming manual work, many small Insurance brokers love to outsource the work to countries like India. Pay rate ranges from $8 to $12 per quotation.
(5) Accounts Preparation: Preparation and maintenance of accounts is a legal requirement in all countries. Most of the transactions of the online sellers are done automatically. From these logs that are sent to you by email, you are required to enter data into accounting programs such as Quickbooks, the most popular accounting program in the United States, and send the records periodically by email. Pay rate ranges from $4 to $6 per hour.
(6) Typesetting: Many small publishers of trade journals and professional publications outsource typesetting. They send the content by email and you will place the content in preapproved templates, create the journal as an electronic file and send it to the publishers who will print directly from the electronic file. Pay rate ranges from $100 to $500 per journal.
(7) Research: Book authors and consultants need lot of information to support their work when they write books and reports. You will be given a list of key points. You will have to search the World Wide Web for content and data that are relevant to these points, collect them, organize them, prepare a report and send it to your client by email. Pay rate ranges from $6 to $8 per hour.
(8) Translation: If you have good working knowledge in an International language and in English, thousands of companies are waiting to hire you to translate their brochures and websites from English to International languages and vice versa. Pay rate ranges from $8 to $15 per hour.
(9) Search Engine Marketing: Without visitors no website can survive and search engines are the main suppliers of visitors. Search engine promotion is a routine work that is done by almost all websites. Pay rate ranges from $5 to $7 per hour for routine, unskilled submission work.
(10) Technical Writing: Generally small software development companies are either poor in creating user manuals or interested in investing their developers' time in software development. They will send their programs by email to you and you will have to create step by step user manuals. Pay rate starts from $500 per project.
