MS064 - Wonderful Worksheets

Most of us can create money from what we already have, if we use our common sense, acquire some basic skills and work hard. All of us have common sense though only some of us actually use it to make money. The light of common sense has the power to chase away our ignorance and to attract prosperity. We think that only highly skilled professionals can make money and do not believe that simple skills can help us make money. Then many of us aspire to become prosperous without working hard.

Anyone can work on these easy-to-correct weaknesses and create prosperity in one's life. Ask Balbir. He would tell you how his efforts to overcome these weaknesses created wealth in his life.

Before Balbir migrated to New Zealand, he was working as a primary school teacher in India. So he thought he could easily get a job in a school and lead a comfortable life.

It is easy to get a job in a private primary school in developing countries if you are ready to work for a low salary. Most educational institutions are pure business ventures that are run with profit motive. These business entities consider future of the growing children and social and national development as incidental by-products. However, things were different in New Zealand. Balbir could not get even a trainee position in any school.

"Only God and I know how much I love children and care for their development. I know how to teach children and make them learn. In India I used to spend countless hours and money from my pocket in creating study materials and worksheets for my students. But here people are racists and so don't give me a suitable job. This country just wastes my time without giving me any work," Balbir did not hesitate to express his bitterness towards the kiwi schools.

"The first step in creating prosperity is to stop complaining against others. We should give up the bad habit of masking our weaknesses with such dangerous complaints," I told him and continued, "We can never change others. We can change only ourselves and that is the thing we never like to do. Simple common sense tells me that you can make a lot of money with what you have already created," I told Balbir. "I don't understand," he said.

"I assume you have already created hundreds or thousands of worksheets that would be useful to school children. Use some software or scanner to quickly create digital version of these worksheets. Make a website of free worksheets and promote it. Once you start attracting good traffic of visitors, you can make money through online ads and subscription to your website. Common sense tells me that there are millions of parents and children that would love to visit such websites. Acquiring website creation skills is easy. If you work hard, in a matter of a few months you will make good money," I told him.

"Do you think I can do this?" Balbir asked me. "There are thousands of websites that give away free worksheets on English, Math and other subjects. If you visit different worksheet websites, you will have an idea about the project and the market. I am sure you can do it," I told him with confidence.

Balbir met me after 15 months. "I researched the world wide web for websites on worksheets as you had told me. There were tens of thousands of such websites. I thought I could not compete with them and gave up the idea. After a few weeks, I pushed my self into the project. Only after I visited a dozen websites, I realized that it's not a rocket science and I too could do it. I learnt how to create websites within a week. As I had thousands of worksheets, it took nearly three months for me to convert them into web pages and PDF format. Then I launched my worksheet website and promoted it. In the meantime I was working as a delivery man for a courier company. Though the salary was low, I was able to survive. Common sense, new skills and hard work did not fail me. Within 9 months, my website was attracting thousands of visitors and I was earning NZ$2,000 (Rs.60,000) a month. Recently, a group of four European educators offered to take over my website for good money. They have made me a working partner in the venture and we have big plans for the future," said Balbir and exclaimed, "There are no racists in this country!"
